First ‘field trip’ of the Summer

We took the kids (plus one friend) our to Valley Falls last Friday.  We had planned to go to Blackwater Falls….but the weather just looked to iffy to make the drive.  Turned out to be a beautiful day anyway.

So much bigger than last time!

Jordan was all about climbing all over the rocks….a safe distance from the water though. People die there every year, and being in the water is strictly prohibited. We make sure everyone stays far enough away that they can’t even fall in. Looks so close though!

Celia liked climbing around too, but she was definitely scared of that big water. Plus her little legs needed more help climbing the bigger rocks.

We briefly checked out the site of the original 1837 Grist Mill…

…..then the boys, Bennie and I set off down a trail and Chris and Celia played on the play ground. The boys had a great time and found some rusty train paraphenalia. We climbed from the lower trail to the upper on, which was quite a workout.

I was surprised that Bennie made it the whole way, but he loved it. I had to make him lay down in the shade when we met back up with everyone at the car because he was just so hot. That’s one wore out doggy!
