Little things I’ve been up to.
I think I’ve been really industrious this week. In addition to the doggy doo thing, I also:
Put the copper caps on our fence posts.
I love copper. So shiny….and……and…..coppery.
I also hung my retractable clothesline. There when you need it, gone when you don’t (ie when the kids are out there. I’ve already threatened them both and told them that if they so much as touched the things, they would end up with broken arms and poked out eyes. Probably not, they’d probably just break the thing and fall on their butts, but it clearly says on the package that it should not be used to repel….)
I have some 2×2s in the basement. I need to get a couple, gouge out a trench, and use them to prop up the middle of the line when it’s in use.
Also, I fell in love with the idea of a rain chain and barrel to collect rain water to use in the garden. I would love a vintage wooden barrel….but those things are pricey. So I bought a galvanized trash can….which I asked the Lowes guy if it would hold water. He had a conference with some other Lowes guys, they decided that yes it would….then I read the tag on the side that says “not watertight” when I was putting it in the car. No matter. I had my heart set on it anyway, so I jsut decided to seal up any seams with some silicone sealer, and I spray painted it with a hammered copper finish to try and dress it up a little. I’m not sure I like it. I think maybe it looks a little…..well….trashy. (Pun only sort of intended) I’m waiting on the actual rain chain for the final verdict.
