Whew, it’s been a busy week.  Let’s catch up a little.

Jordan:

He’s very excited for the ‘fling’ tonight.  It’s basically a party at his school.  He needed extra money to go and discovered that work is really just that….work.  Not always fun.  But I stuck to it on this (refused to just give him the cash) and he got the work done….so now he’s got a wallet full and is very excited to go.

He started playing the trumpet for his first year in band.  I think he’s doing great!  He did get in the car on Tuesday though and tell me very excitedly that he learned to play an ‘f flat’.  I busted up laughing at that one, then he figured it was really an ‘f sharp’ he learned to play, and I explained the whole ‘f flat’ thing to him.

He did not win for middle school president, but was fine with that.  He’s now trying to decide if he wants to stay in Student Counsel or join Lego Robotics as his club.

Celia:

She’s still loving preschool.  They finally got to paint.  Still fighting the nap, but really needing it.  It’s nice to snuggle her down and nap with her when I can.  It won’t be much longer before we don’t have that time together, so I’m trying to enjoy it.

She is obsessed with David Story.   Now, she doesn’t know him really…but he is all she talks about.  He played at so.zo a few weeks ago and I bought one of his cds.  A poster came with it…I thought Jordan might like it so I brought it home.  Well….she snatched that right up.  It’s just him, holding his guitar case on a road.  And he sings this song about flying to the other side of the world.   She loves it.  It’s all she wants to listen to (and it is a good song.  Much better than the Rhinoceros Taps phase, the Laurie Berkner phase, or even the Charlie Brown phase).  All she can talk about is getting on a plane with David and listening to his story (Story?) songs.  I’ve tried to explain that it’s his name, but he replied “Wow.  David Story tells some very good David stories.”  Okay hon.  Anyway, his songs (and the photo actually) are on his MySpace if you’d like to pretend along with Celia.

She’s also very into riding her scooter.  It’s a must, every evening.

Chris:

Is driving a lot.  He’s working in Cumberland most of the time.  It makes me very nervous because I’ve seen SO many deer alongside the interstate.  Like, herds of them.

He has vacation next week.  We’re not going anywhere….just chilling around the house and getting some things done.

He’s also wearing a heart monitor again.  He went back to the cardiologist and the wanted him to wear it for a month.  He doesn’t think it’s catching anything good.  It does make him look like he has 2 extra nipples under his shirt though.

Me:

I’m the Chik-fil-a mom for Jordan’s school.  Once a month I get to help pass out Chil-fil-a to the middle schoolers.  Yay!!

MOPS is going well.  It’s a big of a ‘running the gauntlet’ to get there and back in time (with Celia’s preschool) but is worth it.

I’ve been working at so.zo a lot.  I mess something up in a terribly goody way everytime I’m in.

I tried to charge the Bittersweets cover for their own show (doh!!).

I convinced myself that someone had snuck in and hidden from me one night when I was locking up.  It took me 10 minutes of creeping around, freaked out, looking for someone to realize that it was just the people that lived upstairs making noise.  Luckily, no one was there to see that.

I had to seriously bite my lip at the guy who came in and asked if we could trade some of his quarters for dollars.  Sarah (who is probably the most sweet and polite person on the face of the earth) told him ’sure, we can do that’ and as he started counting out quarters he explained that you just couldn’t give strippers quarters, you needed dollars, that if you gave them quarters they wouldn’t feel appreciated.  I totally had the straight face going until he got his dollars and started telling Sarah how pretty she was, what a pretty smile she had (she is, and she does, but still).  He quickly left and I couldn’t help but mention how lucky she was that he didn’t offer her a quarter for her pants!!

I worked for the WVU game last night too, which was really fun.  We put the game up on the big wall.  And someone came up with the idea od gold and blue swirl smoothies…so this was the creation:

It was yummy.

Since I spent my evening making these, I learned how very important it is to make sure the valve on the smoothie blender is closed before you pour juice in it.  Especially if it’s blueberry juice.  And that if you do make this mistake, you should either grab a cup or shut the valve, because putting your hand under there is not going to catch 12 oz of blueberry apple juice before it splashes all over your shoes.
