Resolutions, 2008!
Alright, here they are….my resolutions for the new year! My family is particularly fond of this set, because I’m dragging them along with me, whether they like it or not!
1. Be more Eco-friendly. We’re going to finish switching out our lightbulbs to those swirly ones that are better for the environment. I’m going to try and use my re-usable shopping bags even more (once we get Bennie trained with the radio fence mom and I just put in and we don’t need to many cleaning up the doo on our walks!). And here’s the biggie…..we’re going to start recycling. Northern WV does not make it easy to recycle like many communities do. But when I was visiting my mom and brother and saw how much recycling they do, I started to feel bad. And then the week we got home, there was something in the church bulletin regarding “Hey, we have a recycling center here at the church, you ought to use it”. Well, if that’s not a sign from God that I need to be recycling, I don’t know what is. So I bought some nifty slide out of the cabinet containers for our two biggies (plastic and cardboard), will have bins in the basement for the others, and we’ll just drop off our recyclables after church on Sundays. How easy is that? By the end of the year, I hope to reduce our waste to one bag of garbage per week. That’s ambitious.
2. More quality family time together. Now, we do get a pretty fair amount of tome together. But this year I really want to get our and DO things with the kids. Santa brought us year passes to Valley World of Fun (where no one will be riding the teacups) and we’ve already started using those. I’m also planning some cool bike outings (since we got that trailer for Celia to ride in) and a few more state parks to see this year (since the kids loved Cooper’s Rock so much last year)
That’s all. That’s it. Just those two things. Plus, keep going on with the good things we have been working on, healthier eating, more exercise (Bennie and I are up to 1.4 miles each evening!) maintaining our budget. I feel like we’re on a roll, we’ve just got to keep moving.
I’m off to finish re-organizing, re-arranging, cleaning out and clearing out the house. I love to start the new year with everything fresh, new, and in it’s place.
