Dear Laurie Berkner,

I love you. I really do. I love that when I play your cd, my toddler does not find a million trivial things to whine about in the car. Some of your songs are so fun to dance to….and we’ve incorporated the moon song and the goodnight animals songs into our bedtime routine. They are fun, and easy to sing. I really dig two-part harmonies on any song, so there’s another point in your direction.

But sometimes, I also hate you. Like when the kids have been in bed for two hours, and I’m trying to bake up some fancy scones, and I can not stop singing Rum Sum Sum, over and over and over, until I wonder if maybe I’m crazy. I also hate that you inspire my husband to pick the songs that are NOT on the top of my favorite list and making them even more obnoxious by singing terrible off key harmony in a falsetto two octaves too high to ever be pleasing to anyone,or when he feels the need to honk the horn or slam on the brakes in time with the music.

Also, I’ve got to ask, what in the world were you thinking with a few of these songs..

“There’s a big truck honkin’ in my heart” Sorry, but what in the world is that??

And what I’ve start calling ‘The Stalker Song’ …..”called you on the telephone, you weren’t home….went to your house knocked on the door, you weren’t home…..went to sleep and dreamed of you…..so I called you on the telephone….” Oh you’re there. Good. Mwahahaha. Now I can watch in your windows. Sorry, but that song creeps me out.

Then the cookie bakers? They start dancing and you eat them?? Sadistic I tell you.

Come on Laurie, give me more things like Energy or We Are the Dinosaurs.
