Why do I wait?
Why do I wait until the last freaking minute to get things done? I swear it’s not procrastination, as I’m not really putting it off. I just plan to do it at the last minute.
Anyway, I spend my day cleaning, re-organizing, and baking. Baking all kinds of delectable sweet treats (no bakes and pumpkin scones…mmm). I thought I’d just wait until the kids were in bed to brown the sausage I needed to have ready for a quick sausage roll in the morning.
See, it’s the kiwi group’s turn to bring breakfast to MOPS. Breakfast is VERY important. It’s one of my favorite parts of the meeting, and I know the other mommies feel the same. We manage to get out kids there at the ridiculous time of 9 AM….all we want to do it sit down and have some yummy breakfast prepared by someone else. And this time, it’s my turn to bring something.
Last meeting I signed up for my sausage roll. It’s easy, and everyone loves it. Kind of a no-brainer. Plus, I knew I had all the stuff for it.
Or I thought I did. I pulled the sausage out of the fridge tonight and discovered that it wasn’t sausage at all. It was ground turkey. Dang! How did I miss that when I took it out of the freezer earlier this week?
Since the kids are in bed and Chris is still at work, running to the store is not an option.
I freak out and try to come up with an alternative….only, there’s really nothing. I’ve got tons of ingredients for sweet stuff, but nothing for a savory breakfast food. Dang again.
After a little bit of googling, I figured I would just turn the ground turkey into sausage. It worked surprisingly well! (Well, after I called my neighbor and begged her to bring some sage over) Yay! Crisis averted!
